Bats from southwestern Minas Gerais, Brazil (Mammalia: Chiroptera)
A. Pedro, WagnerA. Taddei, Valdir
The State of Minas Gerais, in Southeast Brazil, has a large and diverse bat fauna. Some studies about ecology (Sazima & Sazima 1975, Uieda 1992, Aguiar 1994), taxonomy (Vieira 1942, Taddei 1973, Sazima et al. 1978, Pedro et al. 1994, Aguiar et al. 1995), species surveys ( Glass & Encarnação 1982, Oliveira et al. 1994, Tavares & Cesari 1996, Nogueira et al. 1996, Oliveira et al. 1996), and others (Uieda & Araujo 1987, Cesari 1996) point out at least 58 species occurring in the state. Glass & Encarnação (1982) remark on the paucity of bat data concerning western Minas Gerais.
