The purpose of this paper is the analysis of the relationship between total annua1 catch and fishing intensity of goete (stone croaker) caught along the center coast of São Paulo State (Brazil, 24°S). We obtained: C = (49.0 - .00324E)E where:C = total annual catch (kg) (1960-1971), and E = fishing intensity (total number of hauls, 3.5 hours of trawling, during the year). C is maximum (185 262 kg) for E = 7 562 hauls per year.
